Can I use a large sheepskin rug on the bed ?
What could make your babys bedtime more cosy than a layer of snuggly sheepskin ? One of the questions we are often asked is can I use a sheepskin rug on the bed or do I need a mattress cover? Either is fine provided you are using baby-safe sheepskin that is medically tanned. A cot liner is cut specifically to fit the mattress whereas a large rug( 110cm +) can sit comfortably over the mattress. We recommend our Fellhof 120cm lambskin, as the softest, silkiest large lambskin for beds.
Can sheepskin help your newborn sleep ?
Sheepskin has lots of natural qualities which helps to aid sleep. The fibres are springy and supportive and distribute weight evenly - like sleeping on a cloud for your newborn ☁️
Naturally breathable and thermostatic sheepskin helps your baby regulate body temperature and feel comfortable and settled.
Do I need to use a sheet over my sheepskin cot liner ?
We are often asked about how to use a sheepskin mattress cover to help your baby sleep. Whilst it isn't necessary to use a sheet over the sheepskin cot liner, we do recommend a thin natural (cotton or bamboo) sheet. This will help to keep the sheepskin clean and providing you use a 100% natural sheet, your baby will still benefit from the breathable, thermostatic qualities of sheepskin along with the snuggly softness ☁️
